Focus Construct was engaged as principal contractor for roof repairs and associated works at the Wynnum Manly Seagulls Junior Rugby League Club. The engagement was through Brisbane City Council, with progress claims under the Building & Construction Industry Payment Act 2004 (Qld) and contract administration/certification by Civic.
The scope covered roof replacement and structural repair works, demolition and service diversion/relocation, hydraulics/roofing trades, plus solar reinstatement, mechanical/AC works, roof redesign, temporary AC to gaming areas, bird removal, and make-good. Works required heights access (scaffold/crane plans), fall protection, and delivery around a community sporting club facility.
Focus worked standard business hours to manage costs, but the club's expensive satellite dish — carrying its sporting channels — needed to stay operational throughout. Working with the hydraulic, electrical and mechanical teams, Focus developed a new one-day cyclical methodology: each cycle, four sheets and the wire mesh were removed, the box gutter section taken out, premade cleats/purlins and new steel gutter installed, new wire mesh and insulation fitted, and the new Clip-Lok roof system and sheets installed and inspected — all within the day.
